WALK 5: LLANGENNITH TO RHOSSILI ON COASTAL PATH

 

A stunningly beautiful coastal path with good views of the wide sweep of Rhossili Bay with Broughton Burrows to the north and iconic Worm’s Head to the south.

Distance: Approximately 2¾ miles; 4.5 kilometres.

Terrain: Initially on a minor road (busy traffic in season) thence coastal path, rough and rocky in places and a steep climb for the last quarter of a mile (0.5 kilometre)

Start: Llangennith bus terminus; map reference 426916

Bus there: Gower Explorer 116 or 118 from Swansea City Centre, approximately every two hours daytime, Mondays to Saturdays; on Sundays & Bank Holiday Mondays, service 119 two journeys per day

Walk: Alighting from the bus at the terminus, proceed along the road signed ‘Hill End’ until you reach the entrance to the holiday park (¾ mile; 1.2 kilometres). Here, bear left on to a public footpath that skirts the shoreline along the length of Rhossili Bay, passing en route the noted old parsonage before ascending steeply to reach Rhossili village near the ancient church. The bus stop is a short walk through the churchyard.

Facilities: The National Trust Visitor Centre in Rhossili has a gift shop; there are also cafes, a hotel serving bar meals and toilets near by

Bus back: Gower Explorer Service 118 to Swansea City Centre, mainly every hour Mondays to Saturdays; on Sundays & Bank Holiday Mondays, four journeys.

Tickets: A Gower Day Explorer is valid on all services in Gower and on Veolia buses from other parts of Swansea; holders of Welsh concessionary bus passes can travel free!
