Aberdulais Falls National Trust: more than just a spectacular waterfall immortalised by the artist Turner; it is an industrial heritage site of some significance. Bus X4 from Port Talbot Bus Station to Neath then Bus 158 alighting at Aberdulais Falls; return from same stop. No service Sundays & BHM.
Aberafan Seafront: there is a 2 mile promenade at Aberafan which makes for a very easy and pleasant walk with great views across Swansea Bay to the Gower peninsula. There are a number of cafes and restaurants in the area. The Afan Lido is currently closed for rebuilding. Bus 8 from Port Talbot Train or Bus Station, alighting at Aquadome.
Afan Forest Park Visitor Centre: learn all about the flora and fauna of Afan Forest Park in this interesting centre, café with hot meals available on site. The South Wales Miners Museum is adjacent. Bus 23 from Port Talbot Bus Station, alighting at Afan Forest Park Centre; return on Bus 23 to Port Talbot from same stop. No service Sundays & BHM.
Dynamic Rock Indoor Climbing Centre: learn all you need to know about rock climbing, from ‘taster’ sessions through to indoor climbing tuition, outdoor rock climbing and other activities. Train from Port Talbot Train Station to Swansea then Buses 120, 121 or 125 from Swansea Train Station, alighting at Clydach Square (adjacent).
Gnoll Estate Country Park: an extensive park in Neath created from a 18th century local industrialists’ private estate has a range of footpaths of varying length, mostly easy or moderate grade. On these paths, you will be able to witness the incredible extent of features formed from the one-time network of water supplies to local industry. Bus X4 from Port Talbot Bus Station alighting at Neath Bus Station (½ mi/0.8km); no service Sundays & BHM.
Glyncorrwg Ponds Visitor Centre: this centre is situated 0.25mi/0.4km from the bus stop in the village and is a centre for mountain biking, trout and coarse fishing, and canoeing; a number of walking trails start from here. There is a café with hot meals available on site. Bus 23 from Port Talbot Bus Station, alighting at Glyncorrwg Bridge St; return on Buses 32 or 36 from same stop; no service Sundays & BHM.
LC, Swansea’s Leisure Complex: a multi-activity centre with waterpark and boardrider, climbing, children’s play area, gym, spa and fitness centre. Weekdays: Buses X1 or X3 from Port Talbot Bus Station to Swansea Bus Station (¼ mi/0.4km). Liberty Stadium: the Stadium is the home of Swansea City Football Club and the Ospreys regional rugby team; it is also a principal centre for conferences and events. Train from Port Talbot Train Station to Swansea then Buses 4 (Metro) or 4A from Swansea Train Station, alighting at Liberty Stadium. Buy a Swansea Train Plus Bus ticket.
Margam Country Park: a place of splendid landscapes, architecture, rich heritage and cultural past and a full programme of entertainment for the whole family throughout the year. A day at Margam Country Park has much to offer. Amongst its attractions are a magnificent 18th Century Orangery, an impressive Tudor-Gothic style Victorian Mansion House, a 12th Century Chapter House, ornamental gardens and the best deer herd in Wales. For kids there is a narrow gauge railway, adventure playground, farm trail and Fairytale Land; and for older kids and active adults, Go Ape is here. It has a Visitor Centre, café and gift shop. National Waterfront Museum: the Waterfront Museum at Swansea tells the story of industry and innovation in Wales, now and over the last 300 years. Neath Town Centre: the town of Neath has a number of interesting features and attractions, from a Norman 12th century castle; an extensive covered market; the old parish church of St. Thomas dating from the 14th century; and a 19th century Doric town hall. Outside the town, there are a number of interesting places to visit and walks through outstanding countryside. Swansea City Centre: there is so much to do in Swansea with attractions, entertainment and cultural activities to the fore; it has a wide variety of restaurants, cafes and bars catering to all tastes. Train from Port Talbot Train Station to Swansea Train Station then Buses 4 (Metro) or 4A to all points in the city centre, Civic Centre, Singleton Park, University and Wales National Pool.
