Port Talbot to Porthcawl and the Glamorgan Heritage Coast by Bus

Porthcawl is an attractive seaside town with a wide range of attractions, entertainment, cafes, bars and restaurants. Buses X1 or X4 from Port Talbot Bus Station to Bridgend Bus Station changing to Bus X2 from Bridgend to Porthcawl. Here is the western end of the spectacular Heritage Coast reached by footpath from Porthcawl via Newton and Merthyr Mawr back to Laleston for Buses X1 or X4 to Port Talbot.

Port Talbot to the Brecon Beacons National Park by train and bus.

There is an easy train  link from Port Talbot Parkway to Neath Train Station, from where Bus X63, operating several times a day, is an excellent link to some key National Park attractions (Henrhyd Waterfall at Coelbren, Craig y Nos Country Park, Dan yr Ogof Showcaves and Brecon.  Tickets: The Powys Day Rover ticket is valid on X63 and connecting services from Brecon. Port Talbot to the Heart of Wales Line by train.

One of Wales' most outstanding train journeys is the 121 mile link through the scenic heart of Wales between Swansea and Shrewsbury. En route, there are lots of interesting places to visit; Llandeilo, Llandovery, Llanwrtyd Wells, Llandrindod Wells and Knighton, all can be visited there and back in a day. The morning train on weekdays is through from Port Talbot; otherwise change trains at Swansea. Tickets: Buy a day return to your chosen destination.
