WALK 7: CLYNE TO ABERDULAIS ALONG THE NEATH CANAL

Distance: 2¼ miles, 3.5 kilometres
Terrain: Easy level walking throughout on towpaths and urban paths; allow 1½ hours
Start: Clyne Cyd Terrace; Grid reference SN 798003
Bus there: Mondays to Saturdays: First Cymru Service X5 First Cymru X5 from Swansea changing to 160 from Neath to Clyne Cyd Terrace; frequency every hour daytime.
Sundays: First Cymru Service X5 from Neath at 10.00 then from Neath (connection from Swansea by 158) to Clyne Cyd Terrace); frequency every hour from 11.30 (Swansea), 12.05 (Neath).
Walk: Alight at the Cyd Terrace stop which is adjacent to the Clyne canal lock and towpath. The walk takes you on a level course alongside the Neath Canal until you reach Aberdulais Canal Basin where you will see the Tennant Canal branching off to the right. Cross the skew bridge and leave the Basin past the Railway Tavern; turn right on to the B4434 road then right again, cross the River Neath and this takes you to the Aberdulais Falls National Trust Centre.

Facilities: The National Trust Visitor Centre has a gift shop, refreshments and toilets; restricted opening in winter. Alternative for drinks, snacks and bar meals in the Dulais Rock Hotel .
