WALK 8: RESOLVEN-PENTRECLWYDAU ALONG THE NEATH CANAL

Distance: 5 miles, 8 kilometres there and back.
Terrain: Easy, level walking on canal towpaths; allow 2½ hours.
Finish: Resolven Lock; Grid Reference: SN828029
Facilities: The Farmers Arms (200 yards on B4242) for drinks and bar meals; also toilets. If closed, there are alternatives in Resolven village.

Bus there: Mondays to Saturdays: First Cymru X5 from Swansea and Neath to Resolven John St; frequency every half hour daytime.
Walk: Alight at the John Street, Resolven stop which is adjacent to A465 roundabout. Cross this road and turn right from the link road to the B4242 at Resolven canal lock and tow path. The walk takes you on a level course alongside the Neath Canal until you reach Maesgwyn Lock; return by the same route.
Bus back: Mondays to Saturdays: First Cymru Services X5 to Neath and Swansea (connections X4 Port Talbot). Frequency: every half hour, daytime.
Sundays: First Cymru Service X5 to Neath (connections to Swansea); frequency, every hour, daytime.
