WALK 7: CROFTY TO LLANRHIDIAN ON COASTAL ROAD

  


This walk with stunning views across the estuary of the River Loughor and Llanrhidian Marshes is entirely on lightly trafficked minor roads.

Distance: 3 miles; 4.5 kilometres

Terrain: Easy – level walking along minor road except for a steep final ¼ mile through Llanrhidian village.

Start: Crofty bus stop; map reference 529953

Bus there: Gower Explorer 116 from Swansea City Centre, every hour daytime, Mondays to Saturdays; no service Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Walk: On leaving the bus, you will find a footpath link to Crofty village; here turn left on to the minor road and follow this out of the village on to Llanrhidian marshes. This road follows the normal high water mark (be warned it can flood at times and the tide comes in quickly) for two miles to the cattle grid from whence there is a steep climb through the very attractive village of Llanrhidian to the bus stop at Llanrhidian Cross.

Facilities: Llanrhidian has two pubs serving bar meals; one in the village and the North Gower Hotel near the bus stop. The nearby filling station has a small shop, post office and toilets; there is a hot drinks dispenser here.

Bus back: Gower Explorer 116 to Swansea City Centre, every hour daytime, Mondays to Saturdays; no service Sundays and Bank Holidays.
