There are numerous attractions in and around Swansea, catering to all tastes and age groups. See below how easy it is to get to them by bus. For most places, the bus link from the city centre Bus Station is shown; buses feed into here from all over Swansea. Many attractions are situated along the Metro route which also serves the Bus and Train Stations. All parts of the Mumbles area are served by direct bus from the city centre, with frequent service weekdays daytime, less frequent and extensive on Sundays. Swansea City Centre: a comprehensive guide to Swansea’s attractions, hotel locations and major shopping areas, all in a pocket map available on line or from the Tourist Information Centre. The attractions listed below are mainly in the city centre or very close to. There is a wide variety of restaurants, cafes and bars catering to all tastes within easy reach of city centre bus stops.
Bay Rider Land Train: the Swansea Bay Rider runs from Blackpill Lido to Southend Gardens, Mumbles and gives spectacular views of the bay. Buses 2, 2A/B/C or 14 from Swansea Bus Station alighting at Blackpill Lido; Return by bus 2B from the George Hotel.
Blackpill Lido: plenty of family fun for free; paddling pool, children’s play area, climbing rock, picnic facilities and café; Buses 2, 2A/B/C or 14 from Swansea Bus Station, alighting at Blackpill Lido.
Ceri Richards Gallery and Egypt Centre in Swansea University: both located in the Taliesin Theatre complex. Buses 4 (Metro) or 4A from Swansea; City Centre, Bus and Train Stations, alighting at University Main Hall.
Chocolate Factory: a must for all chocolate fans; a real live working factory, see the machinery, melting, squirting and spinning chocolate; find out where chocolate comes from and what it’s made from; and sample it as well. Buses X11, X12, X13 or X14 from Swansea Bus & Train Stations alighting at Fforestfach Carmarthen Rd. (0¼mi/0.4km).
Civic Centre and Central Library: the new Central Library is located within Swansea's Civic Centre where there are thousands of books, music scores, DVDs and CDs to borrow, and an amazing children's area. Other Council services are located here and there is an attractive café with a sea view serving meals, teas, coffees, etc. Buses 4 (Metro) or 4A from Swansea; City Centre, Bus and Train Stations, alighting at Civic Centre.
Clyne Farm Activity Centre: set in 80 acres of woodland and pasture it is open all year for a large range of active outdoor adventures on and off site. Bus 14 from Swansea Bus Station, alighting at Mayals Green (0½mi/0.8km walk).
Clyne Gardens: internationally famous for its collections of Rhododendrons, Pieris and Enkianthus, the gardens offer a haven of tranquillity, lush planting and interesting features. Bus 14 from Swansea Bus Station, alighting at Mayals Green for walk down through the Gardens; or Buses 2, 2A/B/C alighting at Blackpill Lido.
Cwmdonkin Park: immortalised as the stamping ground of the young Dylan Thomas, this is a delightful small park above the suburb of Uplands. Buses 20, 21 or 22 from Swansea Bus Station, alighting at Uplands Square (0.25mi/0.4km).

Dylan Thomas Centre: is a beautiful building in the Maritime Quarter near to Swansea’s museums and has a permanent exhibition on Dylan and his life, as well as a café and bookshop . The Centre is also home to many literary events throughout the year, including the annual Dylan Thomas Festival during October and November. It is within ½mi/0.8km of most city centre bus stops and Bus 53 direct from Kingsway (infrequent service).
Dylan Thomas’ Uplands: if you are pressed for time and just wish to see the area in which Dylan Thomas lived his early life, take Bus 8 or 9 from Swansea Bus Station where the route hugs the hillsides of Mount Pleasant and Cwmdonkin with a bonus of stunning views of Swansea Bay. No service Sundays and BHM.
Environment Centre: is there to provide information regarding sustainability issues; there is a small green shop, fair trade coffee bar, meeting and exhibition spaces, information, internet access, demonstrations of renewable technologies and more. It is within ¼mi/0.4km of Swansea Bus Station.
Glynn Vivian Art Gallery: home to permanent and visiting collections of the visual arts, exhibitions, collections and activities. Buses 4 (Metro) or 4A, alighting at Alexandra Road (50yd/50m).
Gower Coast Adventures: explore the Gower coast by boat, a spectacular wildlife experience from Mumbles. Bus 2B alighting at Knab Rock.
Grand Theatre: has a wide variety of shows and exhibitions for everyone to enjoy. It is adjacent to Swansea Bus Station.
LC, Swansea’s Leisure Complex: a multi activity centre with waterpark and boardrider, climbing, children’s play area, gym, spa and fitness centre. It is within ¼ mi/0.4km of Swansea Bus Station.
Liberty Stadium: is the home of Swansea City Football Club and the Ospreys regional rugby team; it is also a principal centre for conferences and events. Buses 4 (Metro) or 4A from Swansea; City Centre, Bus and Train Stations, alighting at Liberty Stadium.
Mumbles Pier: Restaurant, beach, café, bowling, bars and amusements are all here. Bus 2B from Swansea Bus Station, alighting at the Big Apple.
Mumbles Village: this attractive seaside village has a wide variety of attractions, entertainment, restaurants, cafes and bars catering to all tastes within easy reach of bus stops from Swansea Bus Station. Call in at the Tourist Information Centre to find out all you need to know about Mumbles.
National Waterfront Museum: this Museum tells the story of industry and innovation in Wales, now and over the last 300 years. It is within ¼mi/0.4km of Swansea Bus Station.
Oystermouth Castle: built in the 13th century on high ground above the village, it has commanding views of the coast and seaward approaches to the bay and was both fortification and home for the lords of Gower. Admission to grounds is free with a small entry fee to the castle. Buses 2, 2A/B/C from Swansea Bus Station, alighting at Newton Road.
Singleton Park: Swansea’s premier park covers a very large area with wide open spaces interspersed with extensive woodland areas; popular for major outdoor events and concerts. Buses 4 (Metro) or 4A from Swansea; City Centre, Bus and Train Stations, alighting at Singleton Park Main Gates.
Singleton Park Botanical Gardens: these beautiful Botanical Gardens are based in the old walled garden of Singleton Park. The gardens contain fine specimens of rare and exotic plants from around the world. Buses 20, 21 or 22 from Swansea Bus Station, alighting at Gower Rd, Singleton Park gates.
Surf School in Caswell Bay with GSD Surf: learn to surf or improve skills, equipment provided. Bus 2C (spring/summer) from Swansea Bus Station, alighting at Caswell Bay; or Bus 2 alighting at Newton Caswell Avenue (½ mi/0.8km).
Swansea Museum: a real treasure house of the ordinary and extraordinary from Swansea past and present, and a focus for the future of the city and its people. Swansea Bus Station (¼ mi/0.4km).
Taliesin Arts Centre in Swansea University: is at the heart of Swansea University's Campus. Open year round, it hosts a broad programme of events, cinema screenings, visiting exhibitions and live performances, from dance and drama to jazz and music. Buses 4 (Metro) or 4A from Swansea; City Centre, Bus and Train Stations, alighting at University Main Hall.
